Learning German in a private institute could be very expensive. What many do not know, there is a charitable (non-profit) organisation in Germany called the Volkshochschule (VHS) that offers (among other things) German courses for all German language levels.

The name Volks-Hochschule means the Hochschule (🇺🇸 college/academy) of the people. This name is similar to the name of the famous German car company VW (🇩🇪 Volkswagen).

The German language courses include general courses (from A1 to C2 level), conversation classes and in some places also a medical langauge exam (🇩🇪 Fachsprachenprüfung-Kurs) course.

In addition they have teaching courses for many other languages and skills (e. g. PC, designing websites, Photography, Yoga, Meditation, Philosophy, etc.). Moreover, they have free time activities like city tours, biking tours and hiking events (during hiking, you can leaern German, see this article 😅). You can know more about what courses they have by simply visiting the website of the Volkshochschule in your city. Just google: “Volkshochschule NAME_OF_CITY”. For example, “Volkshochschule Dortmung”. In the website of the Volkshochschule in Dortmund you can find all courses they offer: Link to the courses.

Some German courses are online so you might book a course in the VHS in Dortmund while you live in Düsseldorf.
